The singular nature of the photographic print can often leave other family members fuming out in the cold. That ancient portrait of Grandpa Ferdinand - you know, the only one that survived the hurricane - is sought after by every family member. You even have to hide it when your aunt comes over to visit. Think of how happy she would be if you could give your aunt a fully restored copy for her very own? For that matter, what if you could give digital copies of the portrait to all of the family members? You could even create a photographic genealogy that everyone could enjoy and benefit from.
We all have priceless old photographs that we treasure. Old family heirlooms handed down from previous generations, historic photographs of the homes and neighborhoods in which we live, or just beautiful old prints are all vulnerable to the ravages of time and circumstance, even if stored or displayed properly. Prints can get scratched, stained, ripped, or simply fade over time. Chris Plavidal is a Fairmount based photographer who is an expert in photographic retouching and restoration. He understands the uniqueness and one of a kind nature of these old prints. For your peace of mind, your photos can be scanned while you wait so that they never have to leave your possession. Or if you have many photos to preserve, Chris can come to your house and scan them there. For further security, Chris will store a back up copy of your digital restorations off site.
Any and all types of images are accepted for restoration, including black and white, color prints, tin types, glass plates, slides, and negatives. Even documents or non-photographic prints are fair game if you need it.
